Our First Baby Shower Aboard The Duchess: A Unique Venue in Staffordshire

There are some cruises that feel particularly special, and welcoming our very first baby shower aboard The Duchess was definitely one of them.

A group of family and friends joined us at Kings Bromley Marina to celebrate their mum-to-be with an afternoon of good food, beautiful canal views and, most importantly, time together before the new arrival.

A Baby Shower Venue in Staffordshire With a Difference

Looking for a baby shower venue in Staffordshire can often mean choosing between a traditional restaurant or function room. For this celebration, the group chose something a little different, with The Duchess all to themselves for the afternoon.

There was a real buzz on board as everyone arrived and settled in for the afternoon. With 12 guests gathered around the tables, The Duchess was soon full of conversation, laughter and excitement for the mum-to-be.

With the boat all to themselves, there was nothing to do but enjoy the afternoon, tuck into afternoon tea and celebrate together as the Staffordshire countryside passed by.

Celebrating the Mum-to-Be

At the heart of the afternoon was, of course, the mum-to-be. Surrounded by family and friends, it was a chance to celebrate together, enjoy the excitement of what's to come and make some lovely memories before the new arrival.

Seeing everyone together, laughing, chatting and enjoying the afternoon was exactly what we'd hoped celebrations aboard The Duchess would be like. And knowing that our very first baby shower had been chosen for such a special occasion made it particularly memorable for us too.

Afternoon Tea and Plenty of Cake

No baby shower would be complete without something special to eat, and the afternoon tea was soon taking centre stage.

Three-tier stands filled the tables with sandwiches, freshly baked scones and handmade cakes and patisserie. There was plenty of tea and coffee too, although judging by the reaction to the desserts, it was definitely the sweet treats getting most of the attention!

One particular cheesecake went down very well — but we'll let one of our guests tell you about that later.

What Our Guests Said

The loveliest part came afterwards, when several of the guests took the time to tell us how much they'd enjoyed the afternoon.

And for our mum-to-be, Georgina, this wasn't actually her first time aboard The Duchess. She'd enjoyed her previous visit so much that when it came to choosing somewhere for her baby shower, she decided to come back.

Receiving such lovely feedback after our very first baby shower meant a great deal to us — and we couldn't have asked for a better way to begin hosting special celebrations aboard The Duchess.
